Put simply this is a target for the children and teacher to try and read 40 books in the course of the school year.
The aim is foster a love of reading in a fun and challenging way.
I will allow school time for this and homework time would be best used for the 40 book challenge.
I am available to help choose books that are a 'best fit' for the child. Books that are both interesting and a little bit of a challenge for the child.
I will encourage the children to blog about their experiences and record their books on their e-portfolios.
It is not graded, it is not a competition, there are no extrinsic rewards, it is simply a personal target for each child.
40 books in 40 weeks, one book a week.
All types of books are recognised from novels, non-fiction to graphic novels.
